Original, unflinching, gritty and visionary, The Stranger is a stunning feminist western for our times
Kathryn is an Australian writer of dark and speculative fiction.
Her short stories have been published in anthologies and magazines in Australia and overseas. Her novel, The Stranger, a speculative fiction, dystopian, feminist western that’s been described “as a wild and glorious ride” was published by Allen & Unwin in 2022. It’s a gritty and uncompromising story that kicks off with a stranger riding into town. Only this time, the stranger is a woman, and she’s got a nefarious agenda.
When not writing, Kathryn works in archives, libraries and special collections in the higher education sector, and will happily talk about very old books and records for as long as you’re willing to listen. She lives with her partner and two kids among the gumtrees on the outskirts of Melbourne.
